Sage smudging is one of the purest and ancient techniques of cleansing and protecting a person or space. Sacred to many ancient & indigenous cultures, smudging has transcended time. It’s a simple way to banish away negative, old energy and to introduce positive energy utilizing one of Earth’s greatest herbs. Used to purify and protect mind and body.

Prepare Your Space: Choose a quiet and well-ventilated area where you won't be disturbed. Open a window or door to allow any negative energy or smoke to escape.
Set Your Intention: Before lighting the sage, take a moment to set your intention for the smudging ritual. You can think of what you want to cleanse or purify, whether it's a physical space, yourself, or an object. Focus on positive intentions, such as removing negative energy or promoting clarity and peace.
Light the Sage: Hold one end of the sage bundle with your non-dominant hand and use your dominant hand to light the other end with a lighter or matches. Allow the sage to catch fire and let it burn for a few seconds. Then gently blow out the flame, leaving a steady stream of smoke.
Smudge Your Space: Starting at the entrance of the space you want to cleanse, move the sage bundle in a clockwise direction, waving it gently to allow the smoke to waft around. Pay special attention to corners, doorways, and areas where energy may be stagnant. As you do this, visualize any negative energy or impurities being carried away by the smoke.
Smudge Yourself or Others: If you're smudging yourself or someone else, gently move the sage bundle up and down the body while focusing on your intention. Be cautious not to let any burning embers fall.
Extinguish the Sage: When you're finished smudging, extinguish the sage bundle by pressing the burning end into the heatproof container until it's no longer emitting smoke. Ensure it's completely out before leaving the area.
Closing the Ritual: Express gratitude for the cleansing process, and if you've set a specific intention, affirm its accomplishment. You can close the ritual with words or a simple thank you.
