During the New Moon phase, the Moon appears as a thin crescent or is not visible at all. This is because the Moon is located between the Earth and the Sun, so the side of the Moon facing the Earth is not illuminated.

During the First Quarter phase, the Moon appears as a half-circle. This occurs when the Moon has completed one-quarter of its orbit around the Earth.

During the Full Moon phase, the Moon appears as a complete circle. This occurs when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, so the entire illuminated side of the Moon is visible from Earth.

During the Third Quarter phase, the Moon appears as another half-circle, but this time on the opposite side of the sky from the First Quarter phase. This occurs when the Moon has completed three-quarters of its orbit around the Earth.

In addition to these four phases, there are also other lunar events that occur, such as eclipses and supermoons, which are caused by the Moon's orbit and position relative to the Earth and Sun.
